Wall Street Journal Reviews the Ford F-350: A Luxurious Work Truck with the Possibility of a Generous Tax Credit

In his new review of the 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty for The Wall Street Journal, auto writer Dan Neil writes that this powerful truck is loaded with technology that makes everything easier. The F-350 also falls into a special category of vehicle that qualifies for a generous tax credit available to small business owners who claim its use is at least 50 percent business-related.

But getting back to features and specs, the F-350 Super Duty is pricey but you get what you pay for in terms of extraordinary hauling and towing power, a very comfortable and Internet-connected cabin and muscular good looks that will be the envy of everyone at your worksite, ranch or boat launch. The F-350 is all-new for 2017, with a beefier frame, larger engines, more room in the cab and the latest in infotainment technology, including Ford's highly-regarding SYNC 3 system.

The 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty can be ordered with either of two great engines. The standard engine is a 6.2-liter V8 that makes 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Also available is a 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V8 that cranks out 440 horsepower and a stunning 925 pound-feet of torque. Although rear-wheel drive is standard, four-wheel drive is available as an option. The F-350 also comes with both single- and dual-rear-wheel arrangements. Properly equipped, the F-350 has a tow rating of up to 21,000 pounds. Add a gooseneck trailer hitch setup and you can pull a class-leading 32,000 pounds. The payload for the 2017 F-350 tops out at 7,630 pounds outfitted with a regular cab, dual rear-wheels and rear-wheel drive.

The Wall Street Journal's Neil calls this the Rolls-Royce of trucks for hard-hat crowd. Available features include a 48-gallon extended-range fuel tank, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof with power window shades and powered rear-window hatch, and heated and cooled front and rear seats, and the latest in driver assist technology, including the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System. Configured with the crew cab, the interior measures an enormous 131 cubic feet.
