Kelley Blue Book® Reviews the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor: Stunning Off-Road Performance

The original Ford F-150 Raptor, which was produced from 2010 to 2014, had near-mythical status among off-roading aficionados for its aggressive good looks and amazing capability on everything from sand to rocks. Now the F-150 Raptor is back for 2017. In a new review, the editors at Kelley Blue Book® pronounce the new 2017 Raptor even better than the original, with more power and features and remarkable technical ability on virtually any surface.

The 2017 F-150 Raptor features the aluminum body paneling that Ford introduced on the regular F-150 two years ago. That makes it much lighter and more nimble than its predecessor. But the Raptor's chassis is 100-percent unique, built from fully-boxed and high-strength steel, which actually makes it the strongest chassis in the entire F-series line. It's available in either SuperCab or SuperCrew versions (the latter has the longer 146.0-inch wheelbase). Both models come with a 5.5-foot bed. The 2017 Raptor is also wider (by six inches) and rides higher, with an extra two inches of ground clearance.

The new Raptor gains a new Ford EcoBoost engine - specifically, it's powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that cranks out 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque (significantly more than the 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque produced by the original Raptor's V8). This now gets the Raptor from 0-60 mph in under 6.0 seconds. The new engine is paired with Ford's new 10-speed automatic transmission, which can also operate as a manual via steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

The all-new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is a hot item here at Jack Kain Ford, given the popularity of off-road adventuring here in Kentucky. Fortunately, we have a large selection of F-150 trucks, including the Raptor, in stock here in Versailles.
